OUT Maine offers training for anyone who works with youth: social workers, medical professionals, guidance counselors, school nurses, teachers, etc. Choose between our introductory half-day (3 contact hours) training or our more advanced full day (7 contact hours) training. Best Practices for Working with LGBTQ+ Youth and Families While Navigating Ethical Challenges (7 contact hours) This training, with 7 contact hours, is designed for professionals working with youth and families over time including in-patient/out patient, community-based offices and private practices. It strengthens professional capacity to work affirmatively with these youth; builds an understanding of the challenges, risks and protective factors for these young people; and explores the ethical challenges in negotiating the youth/family dynamics. Attendees will leave with tips and resources for working more effectively with these youth and their families.
