Position Summary:
Maine Youth Thriving (MyT) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Statewide Training Specialist with an interest in and openness to learn more about trauma-informed practices, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), Positive Psychology, and a passion for social and racial equity. This role is essential in supporting MyT’s mission to impact youth thriving by educating those who serve them—caregivers, teachers, healthcare providers, community members, and business leaders across Maine. The Statewide Training Specialist will facilitate learning events that promote resilience, cultural responsiveness, and well-being, fostering environments where all Maine youth can feel seen, heard, and valued.
Key Responsibilities:
Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive Training Facilitation:
Facilitate trauma-informed learning events that emphasize psychological safety, inclusivity, and resilience, incorporating principles of ACEs, PCEs, and Positive Psychology.
Deliver both virtual and in-person training sessions to diverse audiences across Maine, engaging participants through inclusive practices and fostering supportive learning environments.
Create an emotionally safe and responsive environment in all sessions, acknowledging the varied experiences and backgrounds of participants.
Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive classroom management techniques to maintain engagement and address challenges, escalating issues to MyT leadership when necessary.
Client and Learner Engagement:
Conduct needs assessments with a trauma-informed and equity-centered approach to identify training needs, using consulting practices to determine effective learning solutions.
Develop service level agreements (SLAs) for training engagements, securing client approval for proposed approaches.
Regularly assess and evaluate learner satisfaction, collecting feedback to continually improve trauma-informed and culturally relevant training methods that align with MyT’s mission and values.
Stay updated on trauma-informed care, resilience science, ACEs, PCEs, Positive Psychology, and best practices in social and racial equity.
Cultural and Global Awareness:
Approach training with cultural humility, tailoring methods to ensure accessibility and relevance for Maine’s diverse communities.
Recognize and respect cultural differences, historical contexts, and experiences of trauma to create an equitable learning environment for all participants.
Travel and Representation:
Travel statewide as needed (approximately 30-40%) to deliver on-site trauma-informed and culturally responsive training sessions and engage with local community partners.
Represent MyT at various training locations and events, building relationships with schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to support trauma-informed and equitable practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Education, Public Health) or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 2 years in trauma-informed training, facilitation, or learning and development.
Equity and Cultural Competency: Passion for social and racial equity; knowledge of equity, inclusion, historical trauma, and intergenerational trauma; and a willingness to grow in cultural competency.
Trauma-Informed Expertise: Demonstrated understanding of ACEs, PCEs, Positive Psychology, and experience integrating these principles into training content and delivery.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills and cultural competence, with the ability to create a safe, inclusive environment for participants from diverse backgrounds.
Technology Skills: Proficiency in virtual learning platforms and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Education, Social work, Psychology, Public Health) or equivalent experience.
Minimum of five years of experience with workshop and training delivery, partnership building and program evaluation within the past 5 years.
Comfort and experience with public speaking
Proficiency with Google Workspace.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Ability to travel statewide and represent MRBN at external meetings.
Use of virtual and onsite co-space for teaming and meetings.
Occasional lifting and transporting of materials.
Work at a desk for extended periods with a laptop computer.
Required to attend meetings on-site and off-site, via phone, and video conferencing.
Requires a fully insured vehicle.
Hours: Part- time, 20 hours a week.
